Bump stops and Kong Dog Toys!
Back in 1976, Joe Markham owned a dog called Fritz, he absolutely adored his dog but there was one problem that really annoyed him, this dog was destructive and would chew anything, stones, rocks, sticks, houshold itmes, including things that were harmful.
Joe tried everything, training, buying toys that were supposed to be chew-proof, nothing worked. One day he was working in his garage on his Volkswagen bus and he threw one of the bump stops, part of the T2 suspension, across the floor, Fritz was intrigued by the bounce of this VW part, he played with it for hours on end, Joe noticed that no matter what Fritz did, this toy didn't break! Finally, Joe had found a toy that Fritz couldn't destroy. And the Kong dog toy was born!
